Gutted. No more musicthing.

Sadly Tom has decided to retire Music Thing. Not much to say other than the combined influence of Tom's amazing, funny and sardonic blogging on MT and Peter Kirn's (of CDM) massive and infectious enthusiasm encouraged (or was the catalyst for) me to start blogging in a more formal sense, and probably also triggered a much more in depth engagement with online culture in general.

Thanks tom mt was awesome and I'm sure the nets would be happy to have you back anytime you decide to set up mt again!

Music Thing no more, for now

It's pretty cool actually, and not a bad way for apple to continue to leverage their hipster cred. The interface looks well thought out and easy to use. The music learning software I've used or sold (back in the day when I was a retail robot) were all pretty awful to use. This looks like not a bad addition and everyones used to paying money in small chunks to apple for things these days, so the paid lessons should go down alright too. No substitute for a proper instructor obviously.

4 Way Korg DS-10 Jam

Dylab has a 4 way Korg DS-10 jam up. I know a lot of us wanted Electroplankton to fill this kind of role and it's really cool to see the DS as instrument thing finally happen. The jam features briefly in the intro this video:

You can visit Dylab's site to listen to the whole thang.

Also he's just released a 4 track EP with hard acid on it. You can have a listen and purchase it from Juno.

It's a great lineup, and it's for a fantastic cause. It includes live music, a silent auction and tasty food. Should be a great vibe I reckon.

Theres an absolute behemoth, colossal megalith of a post on Good Weather for Airstrikes. It's their top 50 tracks of the year, and it's an amazing effort.

Weighing in at over 14,000 words you might want to be packing a cup of tea and a biscuit. It's a monster. List looks good though. Looking forward to investigating this with said cuppa and packet of bikkies in hand.
