How do you know you are in desparate need of a life? When searching google patent search for patent filings for music gear seems like a good idea.

1977 Moog Music Patent

"An electronic music synthesizer is disclosed in which the sound producing chain includes a voltage-controlled oscillator, band-pass filter, low-pass filter, and amplifier in which selected control currents are supplied to low impedance points within the synthesizer circuit from a resistor matrix"

Oh my! This reads like geek porn. And another one!

Ibanez TS-9 (tubescreamer) Patent

he invention relates to the provision of a sustainer that is compatible with single coil pickups and stacked, single coil pickups. In this regard, feedback is substantially eliminated by processing and altering the direct electromagnetic radiation emitted by the driver.

Bit-tunes fans will LOVE the description given to the Gameboy Patent application - Electronic Gaming Device with Pseudo Stereophonic Sound Generating Capabilities. Come on Nintendo, it didn't sound that bad did it? Oh yeah it did.

Sadly my search for Robot Monster & Kilbot didn't turn up anything interesting. I did however find a AMUSEMENT DEVICE SIMULATING A GUITAR CONTAINING A CONCEALED WEAPON (!)

Love it. Thankyou internet.
