The 28 Posters in 28 Days Gig Poster Challenge!

poster28x28_Challenge.gif

They said I couldn't do it! My girlfriend said I couldn't do it. I don't think I can do it... Let me preface this by saying that I have a sneaking suspicion that this isn't one of my brightest ideas. Good? Clear? Okay.

For the month of February, I am going to attempt to do 1 FREE gig poster per day.

That means I need details for 28 gigs and bands who want posters done. Starting tomorrow, the 1st of February.

Here's the rules:

You must have a real gig you are promoting.
The show must be at least a few weeks in the future (so the poster can be used.)
You must have music online so I can hear your stuff when I do your poster.
You must supply the following information:
Band Name:
Gig Location:
Gig Date:
Cost:

Also. You must be happy with the general style of poster I do. I have no idea of what standard/quality of poster is achievable if I am doing 1 every day for the month of February, so whatever you get, is whatever you get.

You can register your interest in this forum thread

This is something I am doing for fun, and if it all gets too difficult, or my significant other or other likeminded friend tells me the project is making me insane, or I just crack it, then I will be pulling the plug. No refunds for your investment of no dollars folks. Sorry.

Should you wish to donate a dollar to the site and our charity of choice, future cambodia fund then please click below:

Ubuntu Studio

soundcell1.jpgFans of open source lovin' rejoice. The wildy popular Linux distro Ubuntu is set to have a specialized version for musicians, video & graphic artists. At the moment there's not too much to see but visit ubuntu studio.org to check out the WIP wiki.

I know at least a few folks who have replaced their Windows XP desktop with an Ubuntu install. I have it running on my laptop and I really would like to spend some more time getting to know it. I will keep an eye on the project and report back interesting developments. Right now, it mostly exists in potentia - i.e not at all. Still, it's an immensly appealing idea.

Good Seed Festival

Good Seed Festival Poster

Sorry for the lack up of updates folks. Life has been too busy. But to welcome you into the New Year please check out my latest poster!

"The Good Seed Festival is all about community, both local and global. The festival aims to encourage awareness of the importance and power of community, here and throughout the world. We are of the firm belief that planting good seeds will result in the growth of good communities. Our aim for this day is to nurture the belief that the action and knowledge of one person can affect the lives of many.

A community of musicians, artists, organisers, volunteers and sponsors are donating their time, talent, skills and knowledge in order to make this event happen! Thank you to everyone involved!

All proceeds from the Good Seed Festival will go directly to Future Cambodia Fund."

This show is for an amazingly good cause and if you are located in Melbourne (or will be on the 18th of March) you should definitely get on down and support it. The line-up is great too.
