PSP Seq Version 0.00

Hot on the heels of the development of PSP Rhythm 3 (CDM: PSP Rhythm 3) - a rather nifty bit of homebrew drum software for the PSP...

..Is PSP Seq Ver 0.00 (which I think is code for being very early in the development process. At this stage it's more of a teaser release with "basic sequencing functionality is implemented but none of the song or sound design functionality is in place. many new features to be added soon!" But the theory is good, and if PSP Rhythm matured so quickly there’s no reason this cannot do the same. There's a willing and active community of homebrew fans and musicians out there.

It's been tested on 1.0 & 1.5 firmware and Ethan is looking for testers on 2.0 for feedback.

Looks like a title to keep an eye on, I would personally love to see titles such as phoenix pocket studio released for Nintendo DS or PSP - There’s a genuine market for turning these portable devices into smart music devices. The potential is immense, especially when you consider that both machines have viable input methods (joystick on psp, touchscreen on DS) and also both feature inbuilt wireless.

Interactive portable music creation that’s relatively affordable, that allows for genuine music composition is a very exciting proposition. They’re powerful little machines in their own right and being able to use portable devices for more than just chiptunes has got to be a good thing.

In PSP related news those of you who own a unit with 2.60 firmware will be pleased to know that the 2.60 firmware has been cracked. Utilizing a copy of GTA Liberty City Stories and a Memory stick you can run Homebrew. Lovely! 2.60 PSP Firmware Homebrew
