the widget onlslaught continues at cdm

Just a quick note to say that Peter over at CDM has collected up even more information on music widgets for Dashboard + Konfabulator. Which makes 5 posts full of widgety goodness. I'm so jealous of the man's skills - he writes bulk music nerd articles prettymuch everyday and if you're not already a regular vistor, you really should do yourself a favour and check out Create Digital Music

CDM's - Widget Roundup

Related: OT's initial post that had something to do with the cavalcade of widget related madness.

creative zen vision launch reviews

There's stacks of fresh reviews for the Creative Zen Vision. The Vision is creatives new player that plays back MP3 and WMA/WMA-DRM, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, WMV, MJPEG and TivoToGo video file playback, JPEG, FM radio with recording. It's also got a Compact Flash slot which is a pretty compelling addition for digital photgraphy junkies, the 3.7" screen looks like it might be quite nice.

Theres seems to be quite a bit of buzz on the gadget blogs about this one, and I think it's because it's got the right mix of size, functionality & style. Love to take a look at this in the flesh, just quietly I think it might be a bit of a hit in the making. Maybe this will be the PMP player that really sets the pace for models to come. Or it could bomb like a datsun 120Y in a paddock. You be the judge.

looking for a bully (australia only)

Just a quick one. On the forums we've got a researcher SBS tv looking for a bully/ex bully. They're doing a forum on bullying in two weeks time and want to find people who:

"Bullied someone while they were at school (either past or present) without realising the full implications of their actions at the time and now regret it and feel a bit bad. Let's call this the Remorseful Bully"

"Bullied someone at school (past or present) and don't think about it too much as it is not a big deal and every kids goes through it when they are at school and then grows out of it. Let's call this the Get-Over-It & It-Was-No-Big-Deal Bully"

Sounds like a pretty worthwhile thing. See the forum post for the full details.

falls festival lineup part 1

The first part of the falls festival lineup has been announced this morning. More to come soon but so far it'll be The Shins, Ozomatli, TZU & The Beautiful Girls.

I'm digging on the idea this year and I think I'll be heading along. The new website should be launched right about the time you're reading this.

yesterday's outage

Hi Guys,

Yesterday you might of noticed that the site was inaccessible. That was due to it finally breaking the 5gb monthly traffic cap that my currently hosting plan covers. That's 5gb of mostly text and images. Which is actually quite good news, that means that there's more folks than ever visiting the site. Which is great as far as I'm concerned. I'll keep an eye on things this month and if it looks like we're going to hit the bandwidth limit 2 months in a row then I'll upgrade the hosting plan.

All in all, it's good news and the site is growing slowly thanks to links and people telling their friends about it. It's a small milestone (many sites shift hundreds of gigs each month) but I feel a signifigant one. We average a little over 500 unique visitors a day, which is a far cry from a few years ago. Thanks to everyone who has been involved and read the site, thanks to the forum regulars cos you guys rock.

In the future I'm looking to upgrade the site to the full version of Movable Type so that people can login and submit news easily. If you are interested in submitting news or articles for the site please drop me a line on info at ausmusician.com so I know that there's some demand for setting it up sooner.
