making music software for free
Create Digital Music have got a great post up about what's available for both Mac and PC in terms of making music applications for free. It doesn't get much cheaper than that! It still looks pretty hardcore to do this, but this sort of thing was unimaginable a few years ago. PD (Pure Digital) is the PC platform free audio application and it looks quite amazing actually - and with plugins has the ability to be used as a VJ instrument for video processing too. Hotdamn.

PD is actually an acronym for Pure Data. It's a great bit of software too - a nice free alternative to MAX/MSP
