the disco dance floor guys

dance_ellipse.jpgAlso in the random bucket for this fine rainy morning, is the the disco dance floor. Made from 1536 LEDs, capble of 30frames per second for colour changes, hooked up to a *nix love-in... It's "The First East Disco Dance Floor". This is so damn cool. A bunch of MIT kids have put it together and it basically a dance floor hooked up to a PC running the opensource xmms with a custom plugin to send it to the control software for the dance floor. Thats right, I said the control software for the dancefloor. It is truly the year 2005 when the floor gets a program too! You've gotta see the videos to truly appreciate the idea - it looks amazing in action.
