Can see this as being a great simple desktop option for vision impaired users as well, imagine the navigation up large and everything tuned for that and it would be awesome. In fact, I'm gunna email them and suggest that!
not much to see on their website yet
Edit: Here's what I sent them:
I saw the mockup for the Jolicloud OS and I must say it's a wonderful piece of interface design. Really looking forward to seeing it going. I'll be trying it on my hp mini-note.What I'm writing to say is that the simplified interface for jolicloud could also be an amazing software platform for vision impaired desktop pc users. My girlfriend's father has a degenerative disorder of his vision called Macular Degeneration (number 1 cause of blindness for over 55's) and although he loves his computer he's getting more and more frustrated with using it due to his poor vision. There's really not that much stuff out there that gives options without taking away functionality to vision impaired users. There are some applications, but they are either expensive or incomplete solutions for the vision impaired. Maintaining a windows pc is also a big challenge for people with low vision, simple and secure desktop software could be a godsend for them.
I suspect you have enough on your hands developing Jolicloud, but if you were interested in even just looking at some mockups of what I think a vision impaired version of Jolicloud could look like, I'd be delighted to do that for you.
This guy is super talented. The shots are just awesome, and totally evocative of the experience I had when i saw him earlier this month.
This is amazing. Via [gb] studio blog Making of is over on ze frank's blog.
Also making new category. Things which inspire me.

Was cleaning up my hard drive (in a typical work avoidance manouvre) and found this. Did it a couple of years ago. I don't think I was having fun at work then...
This firefly press video really got my mind thinking about letterpress all over again.
Stalking ebay for the last few months keeping an eye out for a letterpress has finally paid off. A little bit earlier on today I won a little letterpress. Can't wait for it to arrive - might have to be patient until February as it's interstate and I'm headed over there then. Will also have to order new rollers for it, as the ones it's currently got are knackered. Still, very excited.
It also came with a bunch of type and general furniture for the press. Hurray!
I also advertised in the local paper and went and saw this crazy press that I have no idea about. I posted for help on the excellent Briar Press.
Here's some snaps of the press from ebay:
It's hard to describe and quite difficult to convey in words. I think what may make more sense is to describe it in terms of "The Mountain". All people who live in the southern part of Tasmania refer to Mount Wellington as "The Mountain". When it's cold people will note that there's snow on the mountain, and when it's unseasonably warm, they will also note that "it's funny how much snow is left on the mountain considering how warm it's been". Basically it's like a giant primitive weather station. If there's snow on the mountain, it's cold or it's been cold recently. That's a uniquely Tasmanian way of looking at things, but there you go.
But more than that, the mountain (using the lower case version now as it feels funny to refer to it in upper case) leaves a strong impression as it's always there. I think some people find it vaguely oppressive, but I have always loved the mountain and like a lot of people find that it's the biggest and most potent symbol of home that I can imagine. My girlfriend's family have always been in the same spot, so for her it's her parents house, but because my family moved around a fair bit, I didn't really have a house that's always been there to come back to. In that way the mountain fills that role.
So today while waiting for my dinner to be cooked at a nearby italian restaurant I took this photo near my house and felt like I was home. Even if home is close enough to the mountain to know it's there. That's all.
This year I'm gunna try and get a tee up on threadless. Watch and learn foos!
(I expect a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth)
Actually, I think it's kinda crap I haven't had a crack before. I did one ages ago and it was really bad. Lets see if I've improved..
Edit: Here we go! It's not been approved yet, but hopefully will be shortly!
dedicated to being more fearless.
I really like the way this guy/girl/group of golems/ blogs.
The design work is also super lovely.
I've been planning to setup a small screenprinting setup for basically forever. I want to print my posters, but never really had the time or space to do it. This year, I am going to print my own stuff, because I want to.
I'm gunna bag some screens from this guy and the rest of my general purpose kit will come from Melbourne etching supplies.
I will document the process as it goes.
